Where Art Meets Solidarity and Resistance
Myra Landau is featured in América despierta: de la 58ª Bienal Internacional de Carnegie al MSSA, now on view at the Museo de la Solidaridad Salvador Allende—a museum deeply rooted in artistic solidarity and political engagement.
Bringing together artists such as Luis Felipe Noé, Francisco Brugnoli, Patricia Israel, and Alberto Pérez, the exhibition revisits the museum’s participation in the 58th Carnegie International, recontextualizing it within today’s global and Latin American realities.
América despierta explores themes of migration, resistance, and collective memory, reflecting on the lasting impact of displacement, censorship, and political struggle. Myra Landau’s presence is especially resonant: her works, Ritmo 7 and Ritmo Continuo, form part of the museum’s historic collection, built through international acts of solidarity in the 1970s, when artists donated works in support of Chile.
Within this broader narrative, her practice speaks to the exhibition’s focus on transnational dialogue and the role of art as a space for perception, solidarity, and transformation—inviting viewers to consider how these histories continue to shape both personal and collective experience today.
