Myra Landau’s Retrospective at MUAC Honored as Best Individual Exhibition
We are proud to share that Geometría Sensible, the sweeping retrospective of Myra Landau’s work held at the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC), has been awarded the 2025 Premio Gorrita Azul for Best Individual Exhibition in an Institutional Space.
Curated by Pilar García, the exhibition brought together nearly 250 works spanning more than five decades, celebrating Myra Landau’s groundbreaking contributions to geometric abstraction. Drawing on a term originally used by Brazilian artist and critic Roberto Pontual, the exhibition title—Geometría Sensible—evoked Myra’s unique synthesis of gesture, structure, and embodied form.
What is the Premio Gorrita Azul?
The Premio Gorrita Azul is one of Mexico’s most dynamic and community-driven art awards, founded in 2021 by artist Mario García Torres. It honors outstanding achievements across the contemporary art landscape—from exhibitions and texts to curatorial excellence and lifetime contributions. Voted on by peers and the public, the award reflects both critical recognition and popular acclaim. Winning this year’s award positions Geometría Sensible among the most impactful exhibitions in Mexico’s contemporary art scene—and reaffirms Myra Landau’s legacy as a visionary figure in Latin American abstraction.
